Whether on the treshing floor,in the meadow by the spring or in the courtyard of the bridegroom's house, the tanac has been dansed to the sounds of the sopile and mih. The tanac is a traditional island dance that was danced both by peasants –powerfully and broadly- and the nobility –gracefully and seductively.
There are folk ensembles on Rab that preserve the tradition and pass it on to the youngest generation. In this way its uniqueness is preserved, together with with its connection to its roots. |
